Speaking at the ceremony to mark the Vietnam People’s Navy’s 70th founding anniversary and to receive the Ho Chi Minh Order, the President praised the Navy’s victories during the past resistance wars and the current national construction and defense.

Established in 1955, the Navy, alongside the people and armed forces nationwide, played a pivotal role in defeating the enemy’s escalating war of destruction in the North and served as the core force behind the creation of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea.

President Cuong warned of the increasingly complicated and unpredictable developments in the region and the world and highlighted the seas and islands’ strategic significance to socio-economic development. He said the seas and islands serve as a particularly important strategic space for national defense and security.

Mr. Cuong also asked Vietnam’s naval force to continue building a lean, strong, revolutionary, elite and modern force in the coming time.
