Vietnam reiterates active participation in China's Belt and Road Initiative

(VOVWORLD) -The 9th Belt and Road Summit opened on Wednesday in Hong Kong (China) with the theme “Building a Connected, Innovative and Green Belt and Road”. The Summit draws nearly 6,000 delegates of governments, corporations, and leading businesses of 70 countries and economies.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, a special guest of the Summit, delivered a keynote speech at the opening session, emphasizing the need to ensure equal, open, and mutual beneficial cooperation, as well as compliance with international law, in implementing regional and global economic cooperation initiatives, contributing to the common goal of peace, prosperity, sustainable and inclusive development, and prosperity for all people.

Binh affirmed that Vietnam is an open economy, advocates multilateralism, respects international law, and supports and actively participates in many economic cooperation and linkage initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative.

The senior leaders of Vietnam and China agreed to promote the two countries' development strategies and implement the Cooperation Plan connecting the Two Corridors, One Belt framework and the Belt and Road Initiative.

He proposed five priorities that Hong Kong (China) can contribute to implementing the agreement of the two countries' senior leaders, including further promoting financial cooperation, further facilitating trade and goods circulation, considering the expansion of regional economic corridors, promoting investment in high-quality new technology, enhancing infrastructure connectivity, promoting connection between cities and people-to-people exchanges, and promoting two-way tourism.
