Mr. Lam’s first overseas trip in his new position has played a crucial role in building the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
During the visit, the two sides issued a joint statement on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and deepening the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
Ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries signed many cooperation documents in various fields such as inspection and quarantine, customs, health, communication, and local cooperation.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said with the joint statement and common perception reached during the visit, the two sides will maintain strategic visit exchanges between their top Party and State leaders, strengthen political trust and jointly orient the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
They will bolster bilateral cooperation in national defense and security, facilitate trade, and expand the export of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market; promote the connectivity of development strategies between the two countries; and effectively implement the cooperation plan connecting the “Two Corridors, One Belt” Framework with the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
They will step up the ‘hard connection’ on high-speed railways, expressways, and border gate infrastructure, and upgrade the ‘soft connection’ of smart customs policies and smart border gates between the two countries.
The two sides will expand cooperation into new fields such as the digital economy, circular economy, green development, clean energy, and renewable energy.
By declaring 2025 the Year of Humanistic Exchange between Vietnam and China, the two sides will jointly organize a series of activities to mark 75 years of bilateral diplomacy. They will enhance cultural exchange and media cooperation; foster cooperation in health care and natural disaster mitigation; and improve the effectiveness of local cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, especially with the younger generation. They will increase tourism cooperation; open more air routes; and encourage more and more tourists to travel to each others’ country.
Minister Son said the two sides will continue to implement high-level common perceptions, better control, and will actively resolve disagreements at sea. They stressed the importance of maintaining and promoting peace, stability, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and agreed to handle disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The two sides will continue to coordinate effectively in implementing legal documents on land borders and related agreements, while strengthening cooperation in the Vietnam-China land border area.
