Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed the information. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon condemned the incident as an act of antisemitism and warned that the attacks on diplomats and the Jewish community have crossed a red line.
According to Washington police, the suspect has been arrested.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect walking outside the museum before the shooting occurred.
