(VOVWORLD) - Tens of thousands of people across major Israeli cities held large-scale protests on Saturday night, urging the government to move forward with a hostage exchange agreement with Hamas.

In Tel Aviv, thousands gathered at Hostage Square, demanding urgent action from the government on the hostage crisis. Protesters warned that time was running out, calling this potentially the last chance to save the hostages.

According to Israeli media, some speakers at the rally noted that up to 70% of Israelis support ending the war in Gaza as part of a ceasefire and hostage rescue deal.

Alongside the mass protests, approximately 200 left-wing activists staged a silent demonstration outside the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) headquarters in Tel Aviv, protesting the military’s renewed campaign in Gaza since March 18, which has resulted in the deaths of many Palestinian children.
