Alexander was released without Israel making any concessions, such as agreeing to a ceasefire or a prisoner exchange. Israeli officials attributed his release to sustained military pressure, supported by the administration of US President Donald Trump.

The UN and many countries and organizations praised the unconditional release of the American. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged Israel and Hamas to reach an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza that will ensure the unconditional release of all hostages.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israel Defense Forces will keep pressuring Hamas to make them release the rest of the hostages. President Trump on Truth Social called Alexander's release “great news”.
