National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented the VinFuture 2025 Grand Prize, worth 3 million USD, to Dr. Douglas R. Lowy, Dr. John T. Schiller, Dr. Aimée R. Kreimer, and Prof. Maura L. Gillison of the United States for their groundbreaking work in developing the HPV vaccine that helps prevent tumors caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

The Special Prize for scientists from developing countries was awarded to Prof. María Esperanza Martínez-Romero of Mexico for her advances in microbial ecology and nitrogen-fixation mechanisms in tropical ecosystems.
The Special Prize for Female Scientists honored Prof. Mary-Claire King of the United States for identifying the BRCA1 gene linked to breast and ovarian cancer, laying the foundation for genetic testing, screening programs, and personalized treatment.

The Special Prize for Pioneering Research in Emerging Fields recognized five scientists Prof. Venkatesan Sundaresan, Prof. Raphaël Mercier, Dr. Emmanuel Guiderdoni, Dr. Imtiyaz Khanday, and Dr. Delphine Mieulet for innovations in developing hybrid crops capable of self-propagation.
Speaking at the event, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: "Vietnam hopes to work closely with the global scientist community to advance research on humanity’s shared issues, promote academic exchanges, develop high-quality human resources, strengthen technology transfer, and implement models of green and inclusive development."
"We are ready to collaborate with countries, organizations, and research institutes in a spirit of openness and responsibility. Vietnam will continue to be a reliable and attractive destination for scientists, where creative ideas can be shared and widely spread throughout the international community," said Mr. Man.
After five award cycles, more than 6,000 nominations from nearly 110 countries and territories across five continents have been submitted to the VinFuture Prize, with 48 scientists honored.
