At a meeting of the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board, participants agreed to scale down the celebration by halting all fireworks shows in all 30 districts and townships of the capital city, due to the devastating aftermaths of Typhoon Yagi, which swept through northern Vietnam on September 7.

The move reflects the city’s commitment to its people, true to the spirit of 'Hanoi for the nation, with the nation’, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

While cultural and artistic events will proceed as planned, the city's administration will reassess the scope of each event, with a focus on the community.

The upcoming celebration of the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day aims to promote the thousand-year-old cultural, heroic, and peace-loving tradition of the capital city and contribute to the development of local tourism and cultural industry.
