During a visit to Cyprus, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot reiterated France’s position on the Gaza crisis and said President Emmanuel Macron intends to formally recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly next month.

Barrot condemned the militarization of humanitarian aid and urged a halt to Israeli settlement plans. He also announced that France will begin airlifting 40 tons of humanitarian aid into Gaza on Friday and is exploring air, sea, and land routes to expand relief operations.

Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos called for the immediate release of hostages and said Cyprus is prepared to act as a logistical hub for humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
