On Cambodia’s side, Prime Minister Hun Manet announced via social media that he reaffirmed Cambodia’s position in favor of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire between the two militaries.

Upon learning from President Trump that Thailand had also agreed to the proposal on an immediate ceasefire, Prime Minister Hun Manet directed Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn to engage in talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and coordinate with his Thai counterpart to implement the agreed-upon principles to end the casualties among soldiers and civilians on both sides.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai had also held a phone conversation with President Trump. During the call, President Trump urged both Thailand and Cambodia to accept an immediate ceasefire to help de-escalate the current tensions. In response, Acting Prime Minister Phumtham thanked President Trump for his concern and mediating role, and affirmed that Thailand agreed in principle to the ceasefire. However, he emphasized that Thailand expected to see genuine goodwill from Cambodia in order to move toward further reconciliation steps.

Phumtham also proposed that President Trump convey Thailand’s willingness to convene a bilateral dialogue with Cambodia as soon as possible in order to achieve consensus on concrete measures and procedures for the ceasefire, paving the way toward a peaceful and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.
