(VOVWORLD) - 25 countries, including France, Italy and the UK, issued a joint statement on Monday saying the conflict in Gaza, which has lasted 21 months and killed thousands of Palestinians, must end now and Israel must comply with international law.

The foreign ministers representing the cosignatories urged the parties and the international community to unite in a common effort to bring this conflict to an end through an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire.

In their statement, 25 countries criticized Israel for causing the current dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They condemned the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food.

800 people have been killed while seeking food at distribution points operated by the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and other humanitarian convoys since the end of May, the UN human rights office said on Friday.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry wrote on X that Israel rejects the joint statement calling for an unconditional ceasefire and condemning Israel’s handling of the situation.
