(VOVWORLD) - Prospects for an early end to the conflict in Gaza are dim, as Israel continues to signal that it is not ready to halt the bloody conflict that has lasted over 21 months and claimed 60,000 lives.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to resume military operations against Hamas in Gaza once the 60-day ceasefire being negotiated with US backing in Qatar expires. He said that, following the ceasefire, Israel will displace Gaza residents to the south while preparing to besiege and conduct operations in northern areas of Gaza.

Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours have killed at least 139 people, including dozens of women and children.
