The “Happy Tet 2026” program featuring 30 experiential activities attracted over 20,000 Vietnamese and foreign visitors. Its online platform also welcomed tens of thousands of virtual visitors.
Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said: “We have created innovative activities to bring meaningful experiences to residents and visitors. Following the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress, our country will enter a new era of strong development in which culture plays a very important role. We want to convey the message ‘Tet is happiness.’
The “Tet is happiness” space hosted many folk cultural activities, such as making square sticky rice cake (banh chung), writing calligraphic words of inspiration, art performances, ethnic folk games, and serving the cuisine of Vietnam’s three regions. Ha Thi Lan Anh of the Tay ethnic group from Thai Nguyen province said: “We’re happy to re-enact the Long Tong festival of the Tay because we’re introducing our culture to many people, both Vietnamese and foreigners. That makes me very happy.”

Through experiential activities, the program brought Vietnam’s cultural heritage to life. Nguyen Long Phi, an overseas Vietnamese from Canada, said: “I want to understand my roots and where I come from. My grandparents made sacrifices so I could be here today. Visiting the Thang Long Imperial Citadel is returning to my roots.”
Although the program “Tet is happiness” has concluded, the experiences and emotions of a traditional Tet will continue to resonate.
