Vietnamese, Chinese navies hold joint patrol in Gulf of Tonkin

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam People's Army and the People's Liberation Army of China conducted the 39th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin this week.

Vietnam deployed ships 09 and 17 of Brigade 171 under Naval Region 2 to the joint patrol with China’s Missile Guard Squadrons 630 and 649 of the 18th Missile Guard Brigade, North Sea Naval Base.

During the 39th joint patrol, the two navies coordinated search and rescue training at sea, basic communication training, formation maneuver exercises, and ship survivability drills. Their accomplished mission contributed to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development between Vietnam and China.
