Strict control measures are being implemented to ensure that every vessel has all required documentation, enabling fishermen to operate smoothly while complying with regulations to combat IUU (illegal, unreported, and unregulated) fishing.

Quang Tri province has nearly 1,350 offshore fishing vessels. Despite facing various challenges, including labor shortages, high fuel costs, and unstable fish stocks, fishermen continue to head out to sea, and maintain traditional fishing practices and their livelihoods.

The provincial total seafood output was estimated at over 138,600 tons last year. Local functional agencies have provided fishermen with timely updates on weather conditions and favorable fishing grounds, educate boat owners and captains to strictly comply with legal regulations and avoid IUU fishing. The control of vessels entering and leaving ports are being enforced.
