Commenting on the Vietnamese Politburo’s Resolution 59, which highlights the importance of proactiveness, activeness, and resilience, Professor Kamal Malhotra stated: "Integration is not new. Some argue that Vietnam is already too integrated. The country has a very open economy and is highly dependent on external markets. This increases its vulnerability, particularly in strategic relationships such as with the United States. The real question is no longer whether Vietnam should integrate, because it already has, but how to make that integration more strategic, more beneficial, and more resilient to support Vietnam’s long-term development, said Professor Malhotra.
Professor Malhotra also said Vietnam is on the right path to becoming an upper-middle-income country within the next five years.
