The Prime Minister’s trip aims to concretize Vietnam’s foreign policy and Politburo Resolution 59’s tasks and goals on international integration in the new context.

Strengthening cooperation with Latin America

Vietnam is attending a BRICS Summit for the first time as a partner country of the economic and political alliance of emerging economies. This Summit, themed “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance”, will give Vietnam a platform to share its viewpoint and experience in addressing global issues related to economic development, trade, investment, and international security.

The theme reflects the interests of developing countries in the current phase. PM Chinh will engage in discussions with BRICS leaders, partner countries, and guest nations on solutions to promote international solidarity and cooperation, particularly South-South cooperation, and build a global governance system that is transparent, inclusive, sustainable, and better serves the interests of the international community, especially developing countries,” Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said.

Vietnam’s participation in the meeting opens doors to cooperation with BRICS members and other nations, especially in the highly promising South American market.

Economic and trade relations between Argentina and Vietnam have grown significantly in recent years, but are still far from reaching their full potential. We are eager to cooperate with Vietnam in removing or reducing barriers and obstacles in trade and investment,” Deputy Secretary of State Agustins Tejeda Rodriguez said at the inauguration ceremony of the specialized Agro-industrial Attaché Office at the Argentine Embassy in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Bilateral significance

Cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil has also been progressing well. This is the Prime Minister’s first official visit to Brazil since the two countries upgraded their ties to a Strategic Partnership in November 2024, and his third trip in three consecutive years to Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America and among the top three in the Americas.

PM Chinh’s visit will further accelerate the highly practical and effective cooperation in trade, agriculture, investment, science, technology, and innovation, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang.

This visit will significantly promote concrete results in opening markets for each others products. This is an especially important target as Vietnam strives to diversify its markets, products, and supply chains. Brazil is a major export market for Vietnamese goods,” Hang said.

PM Chinh’s visit will further promote Vietnam–Brazil relations, strengthen Vietnam’s engagement with Latin American and Caribbean markets, elevate Vietnam’s role at multilateral forums, and affirm Vietnam’s pledge to be “a friend and a reliable partner” of the international community.
