Vietnam consults on Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conference

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations and President-designate of the 11th Review Conference (RevCon11) of Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) chaired consultations with regional groups, member states, and relevant international organizations based in Vienna, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

These consultations aimed to prepare the content and process for RevCon11. Ambassador Viet said serving as RevCon11 Chair is Vietnam's practical contribution to international peace and security. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting constructive dialogues, cooperation, negotiations, and creativity, and ensuring that the consultations are open, fair, practical, and transparent. 

He called on countries and the international community to work towards a productive discussion and help strengthen the Treaty's pillars. 

Representatives of countries and organizations called on Vietnam, in its capacity as RevCon11 Chair, to take a balanced, constructive, and practical approach and added that they will work closely with Vietnam to achieve meaningful outcomes. International partners, organizations, and NGOs appreciated Vietnam’s proactive and attentive approach and confirmed their willingness to work closely to contribute to the success of the Conference in 2026.
