Thai Prime Minister pays official visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Thursday began her two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. This is the first official visit to Vietnam by a Thai Prime Minister in 11 years since the visit by former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in 2014.

Shinawatra's visit comes amid the strategic partnership between the two countries flourishing. Vietnam and Thailand are looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.

As planned, the Thai Prime Minister will meet with leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam with the two sides expected to sign multiple cooperation documents.

In particular, the two Prime Ministers will co-chair a joint cabinet meeting, a mechanism with a very special name that demonstrates high interest and shared determination to develop bilateral ties.

This is the fourth time Vietnam and Thailand will hold joint cabinet meeting, following their meetings in 2004, 2012 and 2015.
