On Wednesday, team Vietnam had one of the most explosive days of competition at the ongoing SEA Games, winning 16 gold medals in many sports. Rowers started the 8th day of competition with 3 gold medals.

Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh remained in the limelight by winning gold in the women's 25m individual pistol event, raising her total number of gold medals at the SEA Games 33 to four. Vinh broke the games’ records.

Vietnamese wrestlers shone as they won three golds in the 77kg, 87kg, and 97kg weight categories, performing an impressive gold "hat-trick".

Women's football failed to defend their gold medal, losing to the Philippines in the penalty shootout, having been denied a legitimate goal during regulation time due to an incorrect offside call. They held their head high for their relentless effort and noble sportsmanship.
