The Provincial People's Committee said at Wednesday’ s conference in Ha Long City, that during the 12 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Areas and the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program, Quang Ninh has always been one of the bright spots.

It was the first locality in the North to have a district meeting the New Rural Areas standard. Co To is the first island district in Vietnam to meet the new rural model standards. Viet Dan commune (Dong Trieu town) is the country's first model village standard commune. All 98 communes of Quang Ninh have met the standards of new rural areas.

Hau A Lenh, Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, said: “Quang Ninh has issued many specific policies to maximize its advantages and prioritize its important resources for the most disadvantaged areas. The province has adopted an innovative policy to mobilize the whole political system and resources from the people and businesses to build new rural areas. These are very important for Quang Ninh.”
