(VOVworld) – Security and order have been restored in Tacloban and its neighboring areas after being devastated by typhoon Haiayn. Police forces said that robberies have been reduced and more than 1000 policemen have been deployed in typhoon-hit areas. Eduardo del Rosario, executive director of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) told the press that most of the streets have been cleaned and rescue workers now can speed up the delivery of food and water to the typhoon victims.

The World Health Organization is now coordinating with the Filipinos government to establish mobile hospitals, and send healthcare officials and medicines to support people in need. The Israeli army on Wednesday sent troops to the Philippines to participate in humanitarian aid to the typhoon victims. The same day, Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said that Japan is to send up to 1,000 Self-Defense Force members for relief work in the Philippines, together with a donation of 10 million USD to provide temporary shelters and basic necessities to evacuated people. Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank’s Manila based office said it would provide 23 million USD for relief work and lend the country another 500 million USD if the Philippines requires it.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council announced on Thursday that at least 2357 people were confirmed dead and 77 others missing. More than 8 million people in 43 provinces have been affected by the typhoon.
