The strikes came when Israel was bombing the Syrian interim government's military forces in the southern city of Sweida, under the pretext of protecting the Druze there.

In the past two days, Israel has twice struck Syrian military targets in Sweida. In a recent statement, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that the attacks would continue until Syrian interim government forces withdraw from Sweida.
