(VOVWORLD) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged views on European Union-China relations with China's President Xi Jinping in a video conference on Monday, Merkel's office said.

The three leaders discussed international trade, climate protection and biodiversity and threw their support behind an EU-China investment agreement.

President Macron said the EU and China should resume flights as both are making progress in COVID-19 vaccination.

He said France appreciates China's implementation of the G20’s debt service suspension initiative, and is ready to strengthen coordination with China on financing and education issues in Africa.

The leaders agreed there’s a window of opportunity to revive the Iran nuclear deal that must be seized.
