Chinese Communist Party celebrates 100th anniversary

(VOVWORLD) - The Chinese Communist Party celebrated its 100th anniversary on Thursday morning at the Tiananmen Square in Beijing, attended by General Secretary Xi Jinping, who is also Chinese President and chairman of the Central Military Commission, as well as Party and State leaders and foreign corps. He delivered a keynote speech highlighting the Party’s achievements in the past century.

According to Xi, China has realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and is now marching towards the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. China will continue to adapt Marxism to the contemporary China in the 21st century.

Xi said China will stay true to the letter and spirit of the principle of One Country, Two Systems, adding that the central government will implement the legal systems for the two special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macao, to safeguard national security and maintain lasting prosperity and stability there.
