(VOVworld) - On the first day of 2013, Quang Ninh Port Limited Company in Cai Lan port received the 43,000-ton cargo ship Chuetsu Spirit of the Philippines loaded 35,000 tons of wood pulp for export to Japan. Bui Quang Dao, Deputy Director of Cai Lan port said : “2012 was a difficult year for us, but we managed to fulfill our tasks. This year remains difficult and we hope that our economy will soon recover and we can generate more work for our workers”.

Also on Jan 1st, the cargo ship Wintec left Dung Quat Petroleum Service Port carrying 30,000 tons of wood pulp for China. It was the first shipment from Dung Quat port this year. Last year, the PTSC and Gemadept ports in the Dung Quat Economic Zone exported 2.5 million tons of wood pulp, mostly to China. This year, the two ports expect to unload more than 5 million tons of goods worth 80 billion VND. Dam Tan Hue, Head of the Service Department of Dung Quat Petroleum Service Port says: “To realize this year’s targets, we will continue improving the quality of our services and raising our productivity to serve customers”.

In Tien Sa port, Da Nang Port Limited Company received the first cargo ship 2013- the Warnow Master-Singapore. Duong Duc Xuan, Deputy Director of Tien Sa port says: “We were very successful last year after reaching all our set targets for volume and revenues. This year, our target is to handle 4.8 million tons of goods”.

A busy New Year was also reported at the construction sites of the Hanoi-Haiphong expressway. In the central province of Phu Yen, more than 20 vessels docked carrying 1.5 to 2 tons of tuna each. Phan Thuan, President of the Fishing Association in Ward 6, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province says: “Last year, fishermen had a high yield. This year, they are building and repairing their vessels getting ready for a new year. The Fishing Association and the fishermen help each other and together defend our country’s territorial waters.”
