"Dozens of IAF jets completed the first stage that included strikes on dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in different areas of Iran," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
Israel has now declared a nationwide state of emergency, warning of the possibility that Iran will soon respond with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Since dawn on Friday (local time), Israel has banned all gatherings, learning and working activities, except for essential facilities.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed Israel struck nuclear targets in Iran and said the operation will continue for many days, CNN said.
