Iran says deal with US possible

(VOVWORLD) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that a deal with the United States is possible if Iran’s right to enrich uranium is guaranteed and sanctions against the Islamic Republic are lifted.

His remarks were posted on his X account ahead of the sixth round of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington on Iran’s nuclear program to be held on Sunday in Muscat, Oman.

According to Araghchi, US President Donald Trump said Iran should not possess nuclear weapons—a position that aligns with Tehran’s stance and could serve as a key foundation for a mutually beneficial agreement.

However, Araghchi emphasized that achieving such a win-win outcome depends on two conditions that Iran must be allowed to continue its uranium enrichment program under full supervision by the United Nations' nuclear watchdog, and the US must lift its sanctions on Iran.

Earlier on the same day, Iranian officials warned that Iran is prepared to launch retaliatory attacks on US military bases in the region if a military conflict breaks out, a scenario many fear could unfold should the nuclear negotiations fail.
