The PDG made the pledge during a recent working visit to Cambodia to seek justice for victims of atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge regime. During their visit, representatives of the PDG, which includes Japan, Australia, the US, France, and Germany, reviewed the work of the ECCC. The budget of the ECCC for 2014-2015 is about 60 million USD, of which 12 million USD will come from the Cambodian Government and the rest from the PDG. Between 2006 and 2013, the ECCC spent nearly 205 million USD on the Khmer Rouge trials. The court is now handling a case against two senior leaders of the Khmer Rouge, Nuon Chea and Khieu Somphon. A verdict is expected by in early August.
