Heavy rainfall of up to 700 mm is forecast to continue in the provinces of Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An until next Tuesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed an official dispatch urging local authorities to continue searching for the missing, provide free treatment for the injured, and support funeral arrangements for the deceased.
Rescue forces have been instructed to reach all areas still isolated by floods and landslides to promptly deliver food, drinking water, medicine, and other necessities; transport the injured and sick to hospitals; and arrange temporary shelter for households that have lost their homes. “No one should be left hungry, cold, or without accommodation,” the dispatch stressed.
Localities were also directed to mobilize all available resources, equipment, and materials to repair schools, roads, medical facilities, and electricity and telecommunications infrastructure.
The dispatch further called for swift environmental cleanup, disease prevention efforts following the floods, and prompt stabilization of livelihoods and restoration of production and business activities.
