Water levels on local rivers are lowering but remain above alarm level 3 as the flood continues to inundate many parts of the city.
"The floods have affected 32 out of 40 communes and wards in Hue. Water level is at 1-1.5 meters high on average, and around 0.5 -1 meter high in the inner-city. Traffic has been paralysed. We have activated our on-the-spot contingency plan, evacuated patients to higher ground, and prepared enough food and supplies to withstand the floods," said Chairman of the municipal people’s committee Phan Thien Dinh.
In Da Nang city, heavy overnight rains have battered many areas, including Tra My, Tien Phuoc, Phuoc Son, Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban, and Dai Loc communes, leaving 6 people dead and 4 missing. More than 10 communes are being isolated by the floods and more than 67,000 homes have been submerged. Nearly 5,000 households, for a total of 16,000 residents, have been evacuated.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Nhat Vu, Deputy Chief of Staff of Da Nang City Military Command, said: "We have deployed all of our forces to establish command posts in key areas of the city. The main post is set up in the city’s center, while 4 additional posts have been set up at Tram Mi 1 and in the former Dai Loc district. We have a total of 6,200 officers, which include both military forces and local militias."
Meanwhile, water levels on rivers in Quang Ngai province are rising sharply. Heavy rainfalls have caused hundreds of landslides along provincial and national roads, blocking off traffic to Quang Ngai..
