On social network X, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned the "heinous act in the strongest possible terms" and said that "at this stage we must assume an anti-Semitic motive".
In France, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau asked the police to increase surveillance at places linked to the Jewish community.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on X that the shooting had caused “scenes of terror and violence”, adding “anti-Semitism... must be stopped.”
The European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, in a post on social network X, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Israel. “There is and should be no place in our societies for hatred, extremism, or anti-Semitism,” Kallas said.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning firmly opposes any actions that endanger diplomats, and demanded a full investigation to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
