The visit takes place as Vietnam and Cuba celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s first visit to Vietnam in September 1973.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung said the visit demonstrates Vietnam’s solidarity and support for Cuba to promote its external relations and raise its international status as well as its successful organization of the G77 Plus China Summit.
Regarding the G77 Plus China in Havana, Ambassador Tung said that 100 high-level delegations from member countries will participate in the summit. It will bring together 15 state leaders, the UN Secretary General, and representatives of 10 international organizations. This year’s summit has the theme “Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.”
