The Party leader expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to strengthening and deepening the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and armies of Vietnam and Cuba. He affirmed the Vietnamese Party, State, and people's consistent solidarity with the just cause of the Cuban Party, State and people.

The Party leader praised the important role of and achievements in bilateral defense cooperation and urged the two sides to strengthen ties in a practical and effective manner for mutual benefit and for peace and development in the region and the world.

Corps General Álvaro López Miera briefed the Vietnamese Party leader on the outcomes of cooperation between the two armies over the past years, promising to work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense to further strengthen the special friendship between the two Parties, States, peoples, and armies.

The same day, General Luong Cuong, Director General of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army met Corps General Álvaro López Miera.
