On Wednesday, Deputy PM Ha, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, directed provincial and municipal chairpersons—who also head local civil defense committees—to approve emergency response plans for the typhoon.
His directive emphasized the need to list disaster scenarios, pinpoint vulnerabilities, and pre-position personnel, equipment, food, and other essential supplies to ensure a rapid and effective response if severe conditions arise.
According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, Typhoon Kalmaegi is packing very strong winds of level 14–15, with gusts reaching level 17. The storm’s center is expected to make landfall Thursday evening in the area stretching from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai.
