At an online meeting on storm preparedness on Wednesday, leaders from Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Hue, and Quang Tri reported on their preparations to cope with the storm. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said: "Provincial authorities have banned all vessels from going to sea since Tuesday and are continuing to direct them to safe anchorages."
Ha, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to provide detailed updates on the development of the storm. He said local authorities must coordinate with the army to identify available forces, resources, and equipment to ensure an effective response.
Ha said: "The evacuation of people from dangerous areas must be completed before 7 p.m. Thursday in coastal areas vulnerable to high tides and mountain areas prone to landslides. Currently, there are two key areas: coastal and offshore areas within the storm’s direct impact radius, and highland areas where evacuations are needed to protect residents from potential isolation."
The Deputy PM called for a total ban on ships going to sea, and emphasized the need to use satellite phones to ensure stable communications at locations that are at risk of isolation due to a power or network outage.
