According to local authorities, all fishing vessels have safely anchored, and households in areas vulnerable to tidal surges or with temporary housing have been listed for evacuation.
In Gia Lai province, more than 15,000 personnel from the armed forces, local authorities, and organizations have been mobilized. 70 vehicles, including armored carriers and rescue boats, have been deployed to high-risk areas, while fishing boats have been directed to safe harbors.
In Da Nang City, hundreds of fishermen have brought their boats to safety, as military forces help install temporary concrete barriers and sandbags to prevent coastal erosion. The municipal Civil Defense Command has called for the activation of highest-level storm response plans and is maintaining 24-hour readiness to respond to any emergency.
Kalmaegi is forecast to make landfall in the central region on Thursday night.
