Huynh Nghia – Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Council, declares a resolution condemning China’s infringing Vietnam’s sovereignty.

In its resolution, Da Nang’s authorities asked China to stop its provocative activities and remove its oil rig Haiyang-981 and escort forces from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.

The city’s authorities consistently reiterated that Hoang Sa archipelago is an island district of the city, and part of Vietnam’s uncontested sovereignty. The archipelago was illegally seized by China in 1974. Da Nang calls on people from all walks of life and National Assembly deputies in China to raise their voice to the Chinese government and urge it to halt its groundless acts which infringe on Vietnam’s territorial waters.
