(VOVworld)- Chinese community representatives have joined local leaders and artists to protest against China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s waters. Du Duc Tai from district 5 says the Chinese community and other ethnic groups in Vietnam wish for peace and development:“We expressed our ultimate outcry on China’s wrongful act by deploying an oil rig and military vessels ramming Vietnamese boats in Vietnam’s special economic zone and continental shelf. I hope China understands that Vietnam is a sovereign country.”

Local leaders hailed the role played by the Chinese community in national unity and the city’s development.
