(VOVWORLD) - Flight recorders from the Embraer 190 airliner, which crashed in Aktau last Wednesday, will be sent to the Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents of Brazil for study, Kazakhstan's Transport Ministry said on Sunday.

Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Marat Karabayev who is head the Commission for the Investigation of the Aviation Incident, made the decision in accordance with the Chicago Convention which Kazakhstan ratified in 1992, following consultations with the aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Russia.

This decision reflects Brazil’s status as the manufacturer of Embraer aircraft and its possession of the necessary technical capabilities, certified laboratories, and appropriate equipment for decoding black boxes.

The International Air Transport Association has called for a transparent investigation into the circumstances under which Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8432 crashed and underscored the need to publish a primary report within 30 days, since the accident took place under international commitments set in the Convention.

The call came after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said the plane had suffered external physical and technical influence while in Russian airspace that led to a complete loss of control.
