Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich will face a travel ban and an asset freeze in these five countries.
Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Norway, and the UK also called on the Israeli government to comply with international law and take concrete actions to end extremist and violent rhetoric.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said: "Australia is a supporter of a two-state solution, and the reason consecutive Australian governments have supported two states is we believe that is the best way to assure peace and security for both Palestinians and for Israelis. These two ministers have been the most extremist and hard line of an extremist settler enterprise which is both unlawful and violent."
After the travel ban and asset freeze on the two Israeli ministers were announced, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio opposed the move, saying "these sanctions do not advance US-led efforts to achieve a ceasefire, bring all hostages home, and end the war."
