The Conference’s agenda meets three important targets. First, it discusses global issues that all countries need to work together to address. Second, it meets the needs of young people. Third, it matches Vietnam's future development orientation.
These targets are independent, but closely related to each other to create space and conditions to maximize young people’s capacity and creativity and contribute to the development of each country, as well as peace and prosperity globally.
Creating space and conditions to maximize the capacity and creativity of young people
Member Parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and governments have affirmed that digital transformation and innovation are inevitable trends that help accelerate and ensure fairness in attaining sustainable development goals for each country and all global citizens so that no one is left behind.
The 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians is a way for parliaments and the United Nations to take advantage of technology to speed up the attainment of sustainable development goals, which has been slowing down recently.
Domestically, the conference affirms Vietnam's commitment to actively participating in parliamentary diplomacy activities and acknowledges Vietnam’s innovation achievements over the past 30 years.

Dinh Cong Sy, Deputy Head of the Young Parliamentarians Group and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Culture and Education Committee, said: “Digital transformation is a global trend and a matter of concern for all countries. National application of digital transformation will determine its fast or slow development. Young parliamentarians, who stay close to young people – the future leaders – should work harder to promote digital transformation and accelerate the attainment of sustainable development goals.”
Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of the Young Parliamentarians Group, said: “The current young generation is tasked with a great mission of shifting growth model of humanity in a more sustainable direction that is truly human-centered and more environmentally friendly. To do that, it is necessary to promote green growth models, a circular economy, and reasonable consumption, while motivating digital transformation and innovation to create added value from national identity. The youth's strengths should be promoted to change the growth model and generate a more prosperous life for future generations.”
Promoting the voice of young Vietnamese parliamentarians
Vietnam has a young population. With special attention from the Communist Party of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Vietnam, in 2015 the 13th NA Standing Committee established the Group of Young Vietnamese Parliamentarians, who are under 45 years old.
As the digital transformation is vital for each country, the participation of young parliamentarians, who quickly adapt to digital transformation and innovation, will contribute to the attainment of sustainable development goals.
“The Vietnamese National Assembly has continued to fine tune the legal framework and institutions for digital transformation, innovation, and startups, and promote national cultural values during global integration. We young parliamentarians are aware of our responsibilities to actively and effectively participate in the law-making process and overseeing law enforcement. We also convey the Conference’s messages to young voters and help them prepare to carry out their duties,” Tuan said.
Young people will be the main force carrying at the national mission of global integration and development and ensuring the common prosperity of the world. Each young Vietnamese parliamentarian is a dynamic ambassador, who will contribute their intelligence, youth, creativity, responsibility, and enthusiasm to the development of humanity.
