(VOVWORLD) - 100 solar light bulbs have just been installed on roads between Hai Tien and Nam Ha village in Co To island district in the northeastern border province of Quang Ninh. This is part of the “Light in the border areas” program carried out by the Next-G Foundation for many years to bring electric light to Vietnam’s border areas and islands.

Co To island district, encompassing 74 islands – the three largest being Co To, Thanh Lan, and Tran – is an important political, economic, defense, and security outpost in northeastern Vietnam.

Major Nguyen Duy Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Tien communal Party Committee and an officer of the Co To border guard station, said: “Dong Tien commune has many unlighted roads. The Next-G Foundation gave the commune 100 solar light bulbs to improve local traffic safety and security.”

Do Thi Nhu Quynh, Vice Chairwoman of the Next-G Foundation, said: “This is an offshore island which is difficult to reach. It wasn’t easy to transport bulbs and six-meter-long light poles to the island, but now 100 solar bulbs have been installed.”

Vu Thi Thao of Hanoi, a sponsor of the solar bulb project, said: “I’m happy to work with other sponsors on the mainland to show our love and gratitude for compatriots and soldiers on the islands. Although it costs very little, this action demonstrates our affection, love, mutual support, and a spirit of the haves helping the have-nots.”

The “Light in the border areas" project of the Next-G Foundation has brought greater social security and order to border areas and islands.
