The Truong Sa archipelago is planned to become a fishing logistics center and a solid support for fishermen.
The Truong Sa island district has 4 ship locks – Truong Sa, Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton, and Da Tay. The locks are capable of handling ships of 1,000-2,000 tons, enabling them to avoid a storm or undergo repairs or refitting.
Luong Xuan Giap, Political Commissar of Truong Sa Brigade, said Khanh Hoa province intends to invest more in the island district’s aquaculture. Mr Giap added: “Everyone should be well aware of their responsibility to build up the island district under the Resolution. We will also support economic development, strengthen national defense, and assist our fishermen.”
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fisheries Association, said realizing this goal will directly benefit individuals and their community.
“Truong Sa needs to focus on preliminary processing for post-harvest preservation so products delivered to the mainland will be of high quality. This includes both farming and fishing. Logistics connecting the mainland and the island will increase the quality and competitiveness of products produced here,” Hoi said.
The National Assembly Resolution has allowed the establishment of the Khanh Hoa Fisheries Development Support Fund to develop fisheries, build fishing port infrastructure and facilities, enhance processing, improve fishery logistics, and strengthen natural disaster prevention and control.
