(VOVworld) – Historical maps and documents proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos are on display at an exhibition which opened on Friday at Ben Tre museum in Ben Tre province.
The maps, including one called Sinae Propriate drawn in 1735 by French geographer and cartographer Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville, and published in Germany, clearly indicate Hainan as China’s southernmost point. The Sinae Propriate map was presented to Chinese President Xi Jinping by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during Xi’s visit to Germany in March.
