Vietnamese Pho Day in South Africa showcases culinary delights

(VOVWORLD) - The 2024 Vietnamese Pho (Noodle soup) Day was held on Saturday at the renowned Hazel Food Market in the  capital city of Pretoria, South Africa. This marks the second consecutive year the event has taken place in South Africa, popularly known as the "Rainbow Nation," and it once again received a warm welcome from the local community.

Organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa in collaboration with other Vietnamese representative agencies, the event aims to promote the rich culinary heritage of Vietnam to both local and international audiences.

Attendees, including South African locals, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Vietnamese expatriate community, explored the art of making pho, ingredient selection, broth preparation, and the assembly of this iconic dish.

In addition to pho, visitors were treated to traditional fried spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee. A selection of Vietnamese-branded products such as rice, coffee, rice paper, noodles, and instant pho was also displayed, highlighting Vietnam's diverse culinary offerings.
