Each day, Duy Anh opens Zalo Connect to find out who needs help in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

“Zalo Connect is an effective tool for communicating with people and reducing direct contact during the pandemic. After locating the people in need, we place food and other necessities outside their house,” he said.

Duy Anh uses social networks like Facebook and Zalo to share his charity work and connect disadvantaged people with philanthropists. After work, Duy Anh’s colleagues help him make his deliveries.

As Youth Union Secretary of Long Hoa ward’s police force, Duy Anh inspires other Union members to get involved in community service activities.

“We encourage Youth Union members like Duy Anh to take part in social work, especially helping people during the pandemic,” said Major Tran Quoc Truyen, head of Long Hoa ward’s police force.

Since July Duy Anh has delivered more than 15,000 packages of rice, vegetables, and fish sauce to people in Can Tho city.

“In the coming weeks, we will focus on explaining to people the process of collecting samples for COVID-19 testing and other pandemic control measures, while continuing to provide food and other necessities to the needy”, said Duy Anh.
