Despite his age, Tran Cang is still sound of mind and active in social work. Thanks to Cang’s help, many poor and disadvantaged people, especially children, have found happiness and hope in their lives. Tran Thi Lieng and Ly Thi Lan of Phu Tam commune are among the beneficiaries.

“My daughter suffers from a serious illness. My family lives in poverty. I earn a living mainly by selling lottery tickets. Mr. Cang provides us with 10 kilos of rice every month,” said Lieng.

“My son is seriously ill. Mr. Cang supports us with money and rice. Despite his age, he is still wholehearted about charity work. We consider him a close friend,” said Lan.

Cang has managed to raise nearly 42,000 USD a year from donors inside and outside Vietnam to help disadvantaged people. He is supporting 40 poor households and has provided scholarships, bicycles, and school supplies to many local children.

“I feel so happy to be able to help others. Many donors have joined my effort to help needy people have better lives,” he said.

Cang said he has raised nearly 840,000 USD from donors for charity work, which has been used to support the lonely elderly, poor households, people suffering from serious diseases or natural disasters, and disadvantaged students. He has paid for eye operations for more than 500 elderly people. 

“I will do my best to continue these meaningful activities. I want to help as many people as I can,” he said.

Pham Van Ti, Chairman of Phu Tam commune’s People’s Committee said, “In the past few years, many poor households in the locality have received help from Mr. Cang. Their living conditions have improved.”

Cang has received certificates of merit from the State President, and multiple sectors and organizations for his contributions to charity work.
