Vietnam has had 268 confirmed infections with no fatality despite a shared border with China, where the deadly virus first emerged, said the article.

It noted that Vietnam’s prompt response, together with the solidarity of its disciplined people enabled its success in combating the global health crisis.

Germany’s Junge Welt daily on Saturday praised Vietnam’s effective quarantine as part of measures to fight COVID-19.

It highlighted the Vietnamese government’s decision to close schools and restaurants while keeping pharmacies and grocery stores open. It said wearing facemasks in public places is mandatory in Vietnam and violators will face strict penalties.
