(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Wednesday that Vietnam is ready for negotiations with the United States, aiming for balanced and sustainable trade, considers this an opportunity to restructure its economy, diversify markets, products, and supply chains, and continues to build an independent and self-reliant economy coupled with proactive, substantive and effective international integration.

PM Chinh received a delegation of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) at the US Congress, led by the Commission Chair Reva Price, in Hanoi on Wednesday.

He applauded the US Administration and Congress' support for a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Vietnam; and asked the Chairwoman and members of the Commission to continue to pay attention to and support the development of bilateral relations.

The USCC Chairwoman agreed with Prime Minister Chinh's proposals, pledging to continue supporting efforts to boost bilateral relations, including recognizing Vietnam's market economy status and negotiating tariffs between the two countries.
